Into the Weekend - September 24th, 2021

Fall is officially here and I'm so excited.  Fall is my favorite time of the year in Texas.  One thing that I love during the fall is the State Fair - which starts today!  In this edition of Into the Weekend, I'm highlighting some things to look forward to at this year's fair.  If you want to get all the scoop and schedules, you can visit: bigtex.com I hope that you have a great weekend! -Matt State Fair Features I'm Looking Forward To Live Music Only in the Lone Star State can this many Texan musical artists be experienced in one place! It's truly impressive how much live music and how many genres are featured at the fair every year. Wine Garden Wine at the State Fair?  Who would have thought!  The Wine Garden is a hidden gem in the middle of the fair.  It's located on Nimitz Drive and will feature a selection of more than 20 Texas' wines this year. Rodeo This isn’t their first rodeo, per say, but there is an all-new rodeo for the 2021 Fair! Home of the 1959 Original National Finals Rodeo, The Texas State Fair is proud to bring a rodeo back to the historic Fair Park Coliseum.   The Barns Growing up, I did 4H and raised sheep for our local county fair.  Now, as an adult, I always enjoy going walking through the livestock barns.  Most people don't even know this part of the fair exists!  I think it's worth checking out and kids especially love it. Big Tex Choice Awards Big Tex Choice Awards Since 2005, the Big Tex Choice Awards contest has solidified the State Fair of Texas as the top Fair for great food creations. Each year, State Fair concessionaires fry up tasty and unique foods for a chance to become a finalist in the annual Big Tex Choice Awards competition.  I'm not sure what to make of these, but I'm certainly going to try one, likely "The Armadillo" marketingcenter-greaterdallas-dfwsuburbs
